Personal Development - An Entrepreneurship Attitude

What is Entrepreneurship?

Gerry SeymourEntrepreneurship refers to a creative business mentality. It's the spark of passion and business acumen that started many of the businesses we all see around us today. Consider the tech giants like Microsoft, Apple, and Hewlett-Packard. Or insurance industry examples like Aviva and NAA. Consider Thomas Edison, Jeffrey Gitomer, Stephen Covey, Henry Ford, and any number of other current or past business leaders. All shared this sense of entrepreneurship.

The concept of entrepreneurship combines business knowledge, personal development, financial acumen, passion, and drive. These are traits that are useful for everyone. If you are self-employed or run a small business, you need to develop these characteristics to grow your business beyond a struggle. Larger businesses benefit from building a sense of entrepreneurship in employees - especially those in key positions - because it enhances the sense of ownership, responsibility, and creativity which drive the most thriving enterprises. Even an employee benefits from developing their entrepreneurship skills, as they become a more capable, confident, and valuable asset to their employer - ripe for promotion to greater responsibility and higher pay!
